The short story:Â Freshman Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir broke the school record in the hammer throw for the third time this season to lead the Rams in their final meet before the Atlantic 10 Championships.

SPRINTS/HURDLES
- Senior Courtney Higgins led a trio of Rams in the 100-meter hurdles, running 14.50. Junior SyVanna Metcalfe ran a season-best 14.66, and junior Yasmine Silmon ran 14.93
- Sophomore Lauryn Taylor ran a wind-aided 11.55 in the 100-meter dash, while junior Lauryn Freeman ran 12.18
- Metcalfe (1:00.53) and Silmon (1:01.99) finished second and third, respectively in the 400 hurdles. Metcalfe's time, a personal best, ranks fifth in the Atlantic 10 this season and fifth all-time at VCU
- Sophomores Karah Moore and Simone Pierre turned in sub-58 performances in the 400, with Moore running 57.09 and Pierre 57.53
- Taylor and Moore returned to the track for the 200, as Taylor ran 24.31 to place eighth, while Moore ran a personal best of 24.57. Sophomore Jailah Channer set a personal best in 25.88 and junior Rorie Spencer ran a season-best 25.33
- VCU's 4x100 team improved their conference-leading time to 45.96 in the 4x100, running 45.96 to place third, while the Rams' 4x400 team also ran a season-best 3:49.39 to place fourth

DISTANCE
- Freshman Cassidy Guyton ran a personal best of 17:56.99 in the 5000, her first time breaking the 18-minute barrier. The time ranks eighth all-time at VCU
- Freshman Lauren Tunnell ran 4:34.46 in the 1500 and a personal-best 2:13.37 in the 800

THROWS
- Hallgrimsdottir earned runner-up honors in the hammer throw with a mark of 60.14m, marking her first time breaking 60 meters in the event and third time breaking the school record this season. Her mark ranks first in the Atlantic 10, 28th in the NCAA East region, and 55th in the NCAA
- Senior Kayla Merkel finished second in the javelin throw with a season-best mark of 43.55m
- Senior Makayla McGowan led the Rams in the shot put, placing fifth with a mark of 14.81m. Sophomore Eryn Byrd (14.56m) placed sixth, and senior Shannon Moise placed eighth (14.03m). Junior Jocelyn Midkiff set a season's best with a 13.60m toss
- McGowan returned to the throwing circle Saturday to capture a personal-best mark of 51.08m in the discus, good for third place. The mark improves her first place standing in the conference Byrd (44.73m), Midkiff (42.73m), and Moise (42.70) recorded top-10 finishes

JUMPS
- Channer recorded a season-best mark of 5.23m in the long jump, while senior Amari Jackson set a personal best of 5.14m. Jackson also placed eighth in the triple jump with a mark of 11.97m
- Freshman Nayome Shipp cleared 1.69m in the high jump to place fourth
