The Short Story: The Rams overcame a six-goal deficit to tie the game at 12-12 with 10:23 left in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats pulled back in front at 15-12 but VCU responded, getting with 15-14 but had its final shot attempts saved as the comeback fell short

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • VCU and Davidson had a back-and-forth first quarter with the Wildcats taking a 3-2 lead on a goal with five seconds left in the period
  • Davidson extended their lead to 10-5 at halftime after outscoring the Rams 7-3 in the second quarter
  • With Davidson leading 12-6 with 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter, VCU's defense shut down the Wildcats as the Rams scored six unanswered goals. Juliana George tied the game at 12-12 with 10:23 left in the fourth quarter to cap off the run
  • Davidson responded with three unanswered goals to go up 15-12 with 3:57 left but the Rams got goals from Slack and McLaughlin to get back within 15-14 with 1:43 left
  • The Rams won the ensuing draw control and had two shot attempts from Metz saved at point blank range. The Rams turned the Wildcats over and had one more chance with 20 seconds left but were unable to get a shot attempt off
