HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU fell behind early as UMass went up 6-0 after the first quarter. The Minutewomen put all 10 shots in the quarter on goal while VCU managed just three shots on goal
- UMass pushed its lead to 10-1 before the Rams scored three unanswered goals, capped off with a goal from Kash, to get within 10-4 with 3:55 left before halftime
- UMass then held VCU to just one goal for the remainder of the first half and the entire third quarter to take a 16-5 lead heading into the fourth
- VCU was outscored by the Minutewomen 4-2 in the final quarter
