The short story:Â VCU and GW were deadlocked at 48-48 with 2:15 remaining but the Rams were nearly perfect at the free throw line over the final minutes (7-of-8) to pull away for the win.

- Keowa Walters posted 10 points and five rebounds
- Sarah Te-Biasu had 12 points and three rebounds including going 7-of-8 at the free throw line
- Janika Griffith-Wallace had nine points and a team-high seven rebounds

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU and George Washington were locked in a defensive battle in the first quarter with both teams shooting less than 30 percent. The teams were tied 10-10 heading into the second quarter
- The Rams and Colonials went back-and-forth again during the second quarter until VCU, leading 23-21, closed the half on a 7-2 run capped off by a Robinson jumper to lead 30-23 at the half
- VCU shot 60.0 percent from the floor in the second quarter while holding GW to just 33.3 percent
- The Rams pushed their lead to 31-23 on a Walters free throw out of halftime, their largest lead of the game, but an 8-1 run from the Colonials cut their deficit to 32-21
- The game continued back-and-forth with neither team leading by more than five points for the remainder of the contest
- The Rams and Colonials were tied at 48-48 with 2:15 remaining in the game when VCU went on a 5-0 run, all free throws, to pull away for the win
