The Short Story: The Rams' throwers put together a record-setting weekend at Virginia Tech, recording three new personal bests over the two-day meet.
 
 
DAY ONE

• Senior Makayla McGowan threw a season-best 18.21m to place third in the weight throw to lead the Rams Friday night
• Freshman Gudrun Hallgrimsdottir (17.85m) and sophomore Eryn Byrd (16.27m) both set personal bests in the event, placing fifth and eighth, respectively
• All three marks currently sit in the Atlantic 10 top 10 list, with McGowan sitting in third, Hallgrimsdottir fourth, and Byrd sixth
• Hallgrimdottir's mark places her at No. 2 on VCU's all-time list in only her third collegiate meet. Byrd's mark moves her to No. 6 all-time

 
DAY TWO

• Byrd continued her successful weekend with a personal best throw of 14.80m in the shot put
• McGowan followed closely behind, recording a 14.39m mark
• Byrd's mark moves her to No. 3 all-time at VCU. She currently sits in third in the Atlantic 10, while McGowan's 15.02m mark from January's Virginia Tech Invitational leads the conference
