OPENING TIP:
- Robinson scored a team-high 26 points and moved from seventh place to fifth place all-time on VCU's career scoring list. She also added seven rebounds, four assists, two blocks and two steals
- Chloe Bloom grabbed a game-high nine rebounds and had two points
- Keowa Walters had eight points and five rebounds
- VCU shot just 34 percent from the floor while Richmond shot 39 percent. The Spiders outrebounded VCU 44-36 overall
- Richmond was led by Emma Squires who had 21 points and six rebounds
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU led Richmond 8-6 at the first media timeout with 4:21 left in the first quarter before a Robinson jumper started a 10-3 run to end the quarter. VCU led the Spiders 19-8 after the first
- The Rams extended their lead to 26-9 on a Samantha Robinson layup in transition with 4:54 left before halftime. The Spiders outscored VCU 12-5 to cut VCU's lead to 31-21 at the half
- VCU held its lead through the third quarter, allowing the Spiders to get no closer than a six point margin and led 41-35 heading into the fourth quarter
- The Rams led 50-41 with 4:33 left after a Sarah Te-Biasu 3-pointer but the Spiders went on a 16-4 run to take a 57-54 lead with 10 seconds left
- Taya Robinson hit a 3-pointer with five seconds left to tie the game at 57-57 but Richmond's Addie Budnik scored the game-winning layup with 1.1 seconds left
