- Mary-Anna Asare also scored eight points along with four rebounds
- VCU shot 42.5 percent from the floor while ECU shot 42.1 percent
- The Rams were just 1-of-11 from 3-point range while the Pirates were 7-of-16. ECU came into the game shooting just 17.7 percent from deep

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- ECU jumped out to a 27-8 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Pirates forced 11 VCU turnovers in the quarter and turned them into a 17-0 edge in points
- VCU's offense settled in during the second quarter, shooting 54.5 percent from the field and holding the Pirates to 37.5 percent. The Rams trailed 45-29 at halftime
- The third quarter was a defensive battle as ECU only outscored VCU 9-3
- VCU outscored ECU 19-15 in the fourth quarter but the Rams were unable to threaten the Pirates down the stretch
