RAMS SIGN TANIA ISABEL ANDRADE SABANDO

Richmond, Va. - VCU Women's Tennis signed Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando to a National Letter of Intent, Head Coach Vivian Segnini announced Monday.

Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando signs from Santo Domingo, Ecuador where she has had an impressive early career, being ranked no. 1 in U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18. She currently ranks no. 81 in the ITF junior singles and doubles rankings. 

"I'm extremely happy about Tania's commitment to our program," Segnini said. "Her achievements in tennis are impressive and she is also a great person. I admire her work ethic and resiliency to deal with any obstacles and challenges she has to face. I'm looking forward to helping her on and off the court." 

Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando has won 3 ITF Junior singles titles in J2 Bolivia 2021, J5 Ecuador 2021, J3 Peru 2023. She was a South American Champion U16 in 2021 and part of the Ecuadorian Billie Jean King Cup in 2021 and 2022. Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando represented her home country in the South American Games at the U12, U14, and U16 levels.

Playing singles for Ecuador in the Juegos Bolivarianos in Columbia this year, Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando won a silver medal. She also won bronze for Ecuador in doubles in the 2022 Junior South American games. 

"I chose VCU because the university is very pretty," Tania Isabel Andrade Sabando said. The team and the coaches are amazing people and I was treated very well during my visit. I want to develop as an athlete and student and I'm very excited to be there"
