The Short Story:Â VCU trailed Delaware by as many as 24 points midway through the third quarter but rallied to cut the deficit to 58-50 with 2:20 remaining in the game. The Rams were unable to score again over the game's final minutes to complete the comeback.
OPENING TIP:Â
- Chloe Bloom was the lone Ram in double figures with 11 points grabbed a team-high seven rebounds
- Jennifer Ezeh had five points and six rebounds
- Mary-Anna Asare scored nine points
- VCU shot just 30 percent from the floor while the Blue Hens shot 47.3 percent. The Blue Hens also shot 41.7 percent from 3-point range (5-of-12) to the Rams' 14.3 percent (2-of-14)
- Delaware was led by Michelle Ojo who had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â
- VCU and Delaware battled back-and-forth in the first quarter with the game being tied twice. The Blue Hens took a 16-14 advantage into the second quarter after a layup with 43 seconds left in the first
- Delaware opened the second quarter on a 18-4 run capped off by a Makayla Pippin layup to take a 34-18 lead over the Rams. VCU cut the deficit to 36-24 at halftime
- The Blue Hens opened the third quarter with a 12-0 run, taking a 48-24 lead over VCU with 6:01 left in the quarter
- The Rams didn't go away and used 14-4 run to open the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to just 58-50 with 2:20 left after a Sarah Te-Biasu steal and layup
- Delaware prevented the VCU comeback with 5-0 run to end the contest
