The Short Story:Â The Rams turned in several personal bests and Atlantic 10 top performances in star-studded fields at the South Carolina Invitational over the weekend.

SPRINTS/HURDLES
- Sophomore Yasmine Silmon led VCU in the 300-meter dash, placing fourth in a race that featured 2020 Olympic gold medalist Jasmine Camacho-Quinn. SyVanna Metcalfe followed closely behind to grab fourth. Silmon and Metcalfe turned in times of 41.24 and 41.97, respectively
- Sophomore Simone Pierre ran 56.87 in the invitational section of the 400-meter dash to place 10th in a field that featured three Olympians. Pierre returned to the track on Saturday afternoon to capture a third-place finish in the 200-meter dash, clocking 24.93
- Sophomore Karah Moore set a personal best of 57.88 to win her heat of the 400-meter dash, good for seventh overall
- Sophomore Lauryn Taylor placed 10th in the 60-meter dash semifinals with a time of 7.60, just 0.01 seconds shy of her personal best. She currently sits at no. 3 in the Atlantic 10 in the event
- Taylor returned to the track Saturday, placing ninth in the invitational section of the 200-meter dash that also featured Camacho-Quinn. Taylor clocked 24.36, finishing as the fifth collegian in the field
- Sophomore Lauryn Freeman competed in the 60-meter hurdles semifinals, clocking 8.64
- Pierre, Moore, Silmon, and Metcalfe ran 3:56.38 in the 4x400-meter relay, placing fifth

JUMPS
- Nayome Shipp continued her stellar freshman campaign with a third-place finish in the invitational section of the high jump. Her personal-best clearance of 1.73m ranks first in the Atlantic 10 and places her at no. 4 on VCU's all-time list
- Sophomore Jailah Channer cleared 1.65m in the high jump for a new personal best, placing second
- Senior Amari Jackson set a personal best for the third meet in a row in the long jump. Her mark of 5.40m placed seventh overall. Jackson doubled back to capture first place in the triple jump with a mark of 11.72m
- Freshman Sydney Carr finished close behind Jackson in the triple jump, placing third with an 11.43m jump
- Junior Raquel Hawkins captured an eighth-place finish in the invitational section of the triple jump, recording a mark of 11.62m on her sixth and final jump
- Seniors Jessica Tucker and Courtney Higgins placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the invitational section of the long jump
