The Short Story:Â VCU trailed by as many as 19 points before using a late run to get within 54-48 but Fordham held off the Black and Gold.

OPENING TIP:
- Janika Griffith-Wallace scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds
- Sarah Te-Biasu scored 10 points and added a season-high seven rebounds
- Madison Hattix-Covington scored nine points and had nine rebounds
- Fordham shot 43.4 percent from the floor while VCU shot just 29.2 percent
- Fordham was led by Asiah Dingle who scored 19 points, seven rebounds and added five assists

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- VCU and Fordham went back-and-forth early and were tied 8-8 with 7:32 left in the first quarter. Fordham went on a 12-4 run capped by a Matilda Flood layup as Fordham led 20-12
- VCU shot just 23.5 percent from the floor in the second quarter while Fordham shot 53.3 percent to extend its lead to 38-23 at halftime
- The Black and Gold clamped down defensively Fordham in the second half, allowing just eight points in both the third and fourth quarter to get back into the game
- VCU went on a 12-2 run and cut the Fordham lead to 50-43 with 1:30 left in the game on a basket by Griffith-Wallace
- VCU was unable to get any closer than the final six point margin
