- VCU held a 15-14 lead after the first quarter of action after Robinson scored 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field early
- The Rams went on a 16-6 run in the second quarter that began with a second-chance jumper from Grace Hutson and ended with a 3-point play from Madison Hattix-Covington to put VCU up 34-25 with 4:39 remaining in the quarter
- VCU weathered an 8-0 scoring run from UMass late in the second quarter and held a 40-35 lead at half
- Robinson led all first half scorers with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting from the field
- UMass opened the second half on a 11-0 run that was eventually ended with a Griffith-Wallace three with 4:57 remaining in the quarter
