The Short Story: VCU Men's Tennis kept their hot start rolling this weekend with a solid showing at the Wake Forest UTR. Four members of the team (Inigo Torre Martin, Maxence Bertimon, Rayane Stable, and Gray Voelzke) competed over 4 days in Winston-Salem, N.C. compiling an overall record of 11-6 between singles and doubles

OPENING SERVE

• VCU opened the tournament with an 11-0 start on Saturday
• In singles championship play, Senior Maxence Bertimon won his quarterfinal matchup 7-6, 1-6, 7-5 against a top 325 ATP opponent
• Senior Rayane Stable won his first two matches in straight sets including a 6-4, 6-4 win over Adam Duan (WFU)
• Graduate Student Inigo Torre Martin won each of his first 3 matches in straight sets before falling 6-3, 2-6, 1-6 to Jakob Schnaitter (APU) in the Semifinal
• In singles competition play, Freshman Gray Voelzke won his opening match 6-3, 6-3
• In doubles play, Inigo Torre Martin and Gray Voelzke won their opening match 7-6 against Martins Rocens and Fons Van Sambeek (NC State)
• The pairing of Rayane Stable and Maxence Bertimon won each of their first two matches 7-5 before falling to Moroni/Nava (WFU) 6-3 in the Semifinal
