JTCC Bedford Cup

The Short Story: VCU Women's Tennis continued their hot start to the fall season with a weekend of excellent results at the Bedford Cup. Three members of the squad (Gabriela Davidescu, Nina Sorkin and Shivani Manjanna) competed over 3 days in Washington, D.C. compiling an overall record of 10-4 between singles and doubles.
OPENING SERVE

• The doubles pairing of Sorkin/Davidescu got off to a strong start with a dominant 6-1 victory over Lawson/Rothfeld (Towson)
• The pairing would continue to the finals of flight A, facing Wiesemann/Marinkoviki (GW) in the final draw. Sorkin/Davidescu would win the final, 6-4
• Senior Shivani Manjanna rebounded from a round of 16 defeat by winning 2 straight matches, making the flight B consolation final. Manjanna would come out on top defeating Ashley Fitz-Patrick (GM) 6-2, 6-2
• Junior Gabriela Davidescu also finished as a consolation flight finalist, dropping only 6 games in her final two matches. Davidescu defeated Avantika Willy (Georgetown) in the consolation flight final 6-1, 6-0

• Sunday's victory in the doubles final marked the second finals appearance for a VCU double's pairing this fall and the first win
