THE SHORT STORY:Â After an evenly matched first half, Saint Joseph's scored two goals in 1:14 span midway through the third quarter and then held off VCU's comeback attempt.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The first two quarters were a back-and-forth physical battle with VCU recording the lone shot on goal in the sixth minute as Mujica's shot off a corner attempt was saved
- The two teams went into halftime tied 0-0 with each team having just two total shot attempts
- The Hawks scored the games' first goal at the 33:44 mark in the third quarter as Miller's cross was met at the back post by Ghigliotti who tapped it in for the goal
- Saint Joseph's scored just over a minute later as Brensztein fired a shot from a tight angle and into the upper corner to make it 2-0
- The Hawks stretched their lead to 3-0 when Miller took advantage of a VCU turnover inside the arc and scored
- Sturm brought VCU back within 3-1 in the 55th minute after scoring on a rebound after a shot from Mujica was saved
- The Rams outshot the Hawks 4-0 in the final quarter but couldn't close the deficit
