Lynchburg, Va. – VCU Men's Tennis got off to a strong start to the year with three Rams putting up solid showings at the Dufour Invitational. Three members of this season's squad (Inigo Torre Martin, Maxence Bertimon, and Rayane Stable) made the trip down to Lynchburg, Va. to compete.

The tournament was highlighted by Rayane Stable who finished his singles flight with a 4-1 record and a trip to the final. Stable started off strong with a straight set victory and continued his hot play with wins over Saez-Royuela Ariza (Virginia Tech) in the round of 16 and Longwe-Smit (Liberty) in the Semifinals.

Both Torre Martin and Bertimon finished their respective flights with 2-1 overall records and advanced to the quarterfinals. Torre Martin picked up a straight set victory over Zuckerman (UNC Greensboro) in his round of 16 match.

In the doubles tournament, Bertimon and Stable put up a strong performance finishing 2-1. The duo collected a straight set victory over Thompson/Saez-Royuela Ariza (Virginia Tech) before falling to Ix/Sculley (Virginia Tech) in the Semifinals.

Three Rams participated in the Dufour Invitational finishing with an overall record of 9-5, a singles record of 8-3 and a doubles record of 1-2. The Rams' will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 4 when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. to compete in the Wake Forest UTR.
