THE STARTING LINE
- VCU is in sixth place overall with 20 points through six of 22 overall events
- Jessica Tucker won a silver medal and eight points after setting a personal record with a long jump of 6.00 meters
- Lauren Graves earned five points with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault. She had a personal best vault of 3.56 meters
- Makayla McGowan had a personal record hammer throw of 51.54 meters in the hammer throw to earn four points with her fifth-place finish
- Courtney Higgins had a record day, posting multiple personal bests. She earned three points with a personal best of 5.78 meters in the long jump
- Higgins also currently leads the heptathlon with 3,133 points. Higgins set a PR of 1.64 meters in the high jump and 14.34 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles during the first day of the event
- Lauryn Taylor, Simone Pierre and Rorie Spencer all advanced in the 200 meters as Taylor had the fastest time of the prelims with a personal best of 23.84 seconds. Pierre also had a personal record of 24.30 seconds
- Pierre also advance to the finals of the 400 meters after running a personal best of 56.13 seconds
- Yasmine Silmon advanced to the finals of the 400 meter hurdles after running a personal best time of 1:01.69 and finishing with the fifth fastest preliminary time
