The Short Story: Davidson got out to a 6-1 lead midway through the first half and the Rams were unable to overcome the early deficit in the loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After the Wildcats raced out to a 6-1 lead with with 12:47 remaining in the first half, VCU scored three of the final five goals to cut its deficit to just 8-4 at halftime
  • Davidson opened the second half by scoring three unanswered goals to lead 11-4 with 24:49 remaining
  • The Rams again scored three of the next five goals with McDonnell's goal cutting the Rams' deficit to 13-7 with 7:29 remaining
  • VCU and Davidson each scored twice in the final 6:37 of the game to give the Wildcats the 15-9 win
