The Short Story:Â VCU limited the Colonials to just one goal in the first half, a program record for a half, and jumped out to a 7-1 lead. Despite the early lead, the Rams had to hold off a second half rally by GW in the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After a scoreless first 8:50 of game time, VCU scored four goals in the next six minutes and led 4-0 with 15:13 left before halftime
- After the Colonials scored to make it 4-1, VCU scored the final three goals of the half to lead 7-1 at the break. The single goal is the fewest number of goals allowed by VCU in a half in the program's six-year history
- George Washington scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to trim VCU's lead to just 8-7 with 8:35 remaining
- The Rams scored the games' final three goals to shut the door on the Colonials, with Osmeyer responsible for two of them
