The Short Story: VCU and George Washington battled back-and-forth in a game that featured six ties but VCU was unable to score in the final 10:11 of the game as the Colonials pulled away for the win.

  • Keriann McTavish scored a team-high three goals on seven shot attempts and had one ground ball
  • Gillian Belfiore made 17 saves out of the 31 shots on goal she faced

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Colonials jumped out to a 3-1 lead with 17:37 remaining in the first half before the Rams scored three of the next four to tie the game at 4-4 with 7:32 left in the first half
  • GW scored two of the final three goals of the first half and led VCU 6-5 lead at halftime
  • The Rams scored the first two goals of the second half and took a 7-6 lead with 26:31 remaining in the second half after McDonnell scored
  • The Colonials led 10-8 after a Germer goal with 11:40 remaining before McTavish scored on an assist from Mann to get the Rams within 10-9
  • VCU would be unable to score again as the Colonials scored the final four goals of the contest to pull away
