The Short Story:Â VCU's
Courtney Higgins competed in the heptathlon at the Spec Towns Invitational in Athens, Georgia and earned a third place overall finish with a score of 4573. The first day of competition included the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200m while the second day consisted of the long jump, javelin and 800m.Â

HOW IT HAPPENED:Â

- Higgins started day one with a personal record time of 14.39 in the 100 hurdles earning her 924 points.Â
- In the high jump, Higgins reached a height of 1.58 earning her 712 points.Â
- Higgins then went on to record another personal record; this time in the shot put. Her toss of 11.38 meters earned her 620 points.Â
- She finished the first day of the competition with a 25.25 time in the 200 meters to snag 864 points.Â
- At the start of day two Higgins moved her way into second overall in the competition with a long jump mark of 5.65 meters which was good for 741 points
- After failing to mark in the Javelin, Higgins was able to rebound with a 2:28.48 mark in the 800 meters to secure third place overall in the competition.Â
