The Short Story: After a slow start, VCU trailed the Patriots 6-3 with 14:30 left in the first half before a 7-0 run jumpstarted the Rams' offense and allowed VCU to cruise to the win.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Four Rams scored at least a hat trick, led Juliana George who scored a team-high four goals along with eight draw controls and three ground balls
  • Abby Osmeyer scored three goals on just five shot attempts and added two assists. She also had two ground balls
  • Keriann McTavish had three goals and a team-high three assists
  • Kelsey McDonnell also scored three goals on just five shot attempts
  • VCU outshot Mason 43-21 overall and had a 32-16 advantage in shots on goal
  • Mason was led by Chloe Reed and Erin Donoghue who each had three goals
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Patriots took a 6-3 lead with 14:30 left in the first half before Lauren Marosi's goal kickstarted a 7-0 run by the Rams to take the lead for good
  • McDonnell capped off the run, giving the Rams a 10-6 lead, but Mason scored the final goal of the first half as VCU led 10-7 at the break
  • The Rams scored four of the first five goals of the second half to push their lead to 14-8 after Anna Koniencki scored with 24:48 remaining
  • VCU pulled away and led by as many as 10 goals three different times to close out the contest
