THE SHORT STORY
Redshirt junior Samantha Jerabek's goal in the 52nd minute drew VCU within one of No. 8 Virginia, but the Rams were unable to find the equalizer, falling 2-1 Saturday night at the Sports Backers Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Trailing by two, Jerabek pushed the ball down the right sideline, made a quick cut to the inside and fired a shot from just outside the box into the top right corner of the goal
  • In the 12th minute, Virginia earned a free kick. Cavaliers freshman Lia Godfrey struck a shot on goal that was deflected by Haakma, but the rebound found the right foot of junior Claire Constant who placed it in the back of the net
  • Following a corner in the 51st minute, Virginia fired a series of shots on goal. The ball squirted out to sophomore Diana Ordonez who put it away in the bottom right corner of the net
WHAT'S NEXT
The Rams will be back at Sports Backers Stadium on Sunday, March 14th to face crosstown rival in the seventh game of their eight-game season-opening homestand. The match is scheduled to kick off at 2 p.m. will be available for live stream on ESPN+.
