WOMEN’S TENNIS SET FOR WEEKEND ROAD TRIP

RICHMOND Va. ­­­­– VCU Women's Tennis will travel for a pair of matches this weekend in its third road trip of the season. The Rams will head to Morgantown, W.Va. to take the Mountaineers at 10 a.m. Friday and will round out the week with a match against Marshall at 12 p.m. Saturday.
 
VCU comes into the weekend having won three of its last four matches. 116th-ranked Paola Diaz-Delgado has added to her illustrious career during her senior campaign. Diaz-Delgado is 6-3 in singles play through the opening months of the season. On Sunday against Old Dominion, she defeated 40th-ranked senior Holly Hutchinson in three sets.
 
Junior Shivani Manjanna has put together an impressive 5-2 singles record through the first ten matches. Manjanna had a three-match win streak snapped against the Monarchs last weekend.
 
Diaz-Delgado and graduate Noumea Witmus have paced VCU in doubles play this season, the duo has tallied a 6-4 record competing on court two.
 
West Virginia comes into Friday's match with a 2-0 record after defeating Youngstown State, 4-3 on Wednesday. The Mountaineers are led by junior Anastasiia Bovolakia who posted a 24-14 mark last season.
 
The match will be the ninth all-time meeting between the two programs. VCU leads the series 6-2.
 
Marshall enters Saturday's matchup with 3-2 record that includes a 4-3 victory over No. 24 Furman. The Thundering Herd are led by the 30th-ranked doubles pairing of junior Liz Stefancic and sophomore Jutte Van Hansewyck who sit at 3-1 on the season.
 
The match will mark the 13th all-time meeting between the two teams with VCU holding a commanding 12-0 advantage.
