FIRST PITCH
- Hibbits finished his day 1-for-4 and reached base twice

- Sophomore Evan Chenier improved to 3-0 on the year. He hurled three no-hit innings and struck out five for the Black and Gold. Freshman lefty Tyler Davis tossed a perfect ninth inning to pick up his second save
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU took control for good in the top of the seventh. Haydak and freshman third baseman Tyler Locklear led off with back-to-back singles. Two batters later, Hibbits singled to right center to score them both and give the Rams a 5-3 lead. Schroeder followed with a double, and Vay added a sacrifice fly for the final margin
- The Rams twice rallied to tie the score in the early going. Vay and sophomore right fielder Logan Amiss provided RBI singles in the second to pull VCU even at 2-2. In the top of the fifth, Hibbits plated Brown with an RBI groundout that make the score 3-3
- The VCU bullpen provided six innings of scoreless relief and did not allow a base hit the final four innings. VCU pitching walked just two Phoenix players all day
