FIRST PITCH

- VCU freshman Justin Humenay also recorded one event-free frame. He hit one batter, but was otherwise perfect in one scoreless frame out of the bullpen

- Freshman Connor Hujsak provided VCU's lone run on a sacrifice fly
THE DIFFERENCE
- Liberty pitching held the Rams to a season-low three hits Sunday
- The Flames took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third on an RBI single by Aaron Anderson and added two in the fifth and three more in the sixth to take command
- Liberty pitchers struck out 17 Sunday including eight in 5.1 innings by starter Trey Gibson
NOTABLE
- VCU starter Michael Dailey struck out five in 4.2 innings of work
- Rams' pitching allowed just eight hits in the game
