FIRST PITCH
- Delane scattered five hits and matched his longest outing of the year with Saturday's effort. He struck out two and did not walk a batter
- Junior designated hitter Liam Hibbits and junior catcher Hunter Vay were 1-for-3 each for the Rams. Vay reached base twice on the afternoon scored one of VCU's two runs on the day
- Freshman southpaw Tyler Davis came out of the bullpen and tossed three innings of one-run relief for the Black and Gold
THE DIFFERENCE
- Liberty earned the win when leftfielder Aaron Anderson ripped a double down the right field line to plate catcher Gray Betts, who led off the bottom of the ninth inning with a walk
- VCU had tied the game at 2-2 in the top of the eighth when junior centerfielder Hogan Brown legged out an infield single and moved to second on a throwing error. VCU loaded the bases and short time later, and Brown scored on a double play
- The Rams jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the second on a bunt by sophomore second baseman Greg Ryan that scored Vay
- Liberty recorded 10 hits in the game, while VCU managed five
- Flames pitchers struck out 13 Rams in the game
