FIRST PITCH
- Schroeder entered the game as a pinch hitter in the sixth and proceeded to blast three-run homers in both the eighth and ninth innings. He reached base in all three of his plate appearances and drove in six
- VCU junior Liam Hibbits went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBIs
- Rams' sophomore left-hander Maddison Furman threw two scoreless innings in his first career start. He allowed just two hits and struck out a pair
- VCU sophomore second baseman Michael Haydak doubled to highlight a 2-for-5 day at the plate
THE DIFFERENCE
- VCU trailed 7-1 in the game, but scored three in the bottom of the eighth and six in the ninth to complete the comeback
- With the Rams trailing 8-4 in the ninth, Hibbits lined a double into left field to score a pair. Sophomore right fielder Logan Amiss followed with a single up the middle to score Hibbits and trim the deficit to 8-7 with one out. Two batters later, Schroeder got a hold of Jacob Menders' 2-2 pitch and deposited a no-doubter over the left-centerfield fence for the victory. Schroeder was promptly mobbed by his teammates when he crossed home plate
- An inning earlier, Schroeder hammered the first pitch he saw from Menders into left for his first home run of the season
- The Keydets opened the scoring in the fourth inning, recording four runs on five hits to take an early lead
- VCU totaled 10 hits in the game including five for extra bases
