The Short Story: The Rams jumped out to an early lead thanks solo home runs from freshman third baseman Tyler Locklear and senior center fielder Brandon Henson in the opening inning and never looked back as seven different Rams launched went yard in a 17-2 throttling of VMI on Friday afternoon.  
 
FIRST PITCH
  • Locklear led the way for the Rams, as he went 3-for-4 with two home runs and three RBIs
  • Henson finished 1-2 with a home run and stolen base
  • Sophomore Greg Ryan came off the VCU bench to blast a grand slam in an eight-run ninth inning
  • In addition, Liam Hibbits, Andrew Pugielli, Josh Simon, and Connor Hujsak all launched longballs for VCU
  • Freshman Mason Delane made the start for VCU. The right-hander went 3.2 innings, and allowed just one run. He logged three strikeouts
  • Sophomore Danny Watson walked away with the win as the right-hander registered four strikeouts and allowed just two hits in his 4.1 innings of relief
  • The Rams recorded 17 hits overall
THE DIFFERENCE
  • The Rams led from wire to wire and put on an offensive clinic featuring eight home runs and a total of 17 runs scored
  • VCU pitchers dominated the Keydets. The trio of Delane, Watson and Andrew Ward did not allow one VMI batter to reach base on balls. VCU pitchers allowed just two runs on seven hits and recorded eight total strikeouts
