Steven Carpenter smacked four hits, and freshman third baseman
Tyler Locklear launched his ninth home run of the season, but Towson rallied late for the win Saturday at The Diamond.

FIRST PITCH
- Carpenter recorded a 4-for-5 day at the plate and drove in a pair of runs
- Locklear homered for the second straight day and the eighth time in as many games and finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs
- Sophomore right fielder Logan Amiss (2-for-4), freshman shortstop Michael Haydak (2-for-4) and junior DH Liam Hibbits (2-for-5, RBI) also registered multi-hit games for the Black and Gold
- VCU sophomore righty Danny Watson tossed 2.2 innings of relief and did not allow an earned run. He struck out five
THE DIFFERENCE
- Towson tied the game on a two-run homer in the top of the ninth by Noah Cabrera and won the game a short time later on a two-out RBI single by Danny Becerra
- VCU took a 7-5 lead with runs in the bottom halves of the seventh and eighth. In the eighth, senior centerfielder Hogan Brown stroked a one-out double down the left field line and came home three batters later on a single by Hibbits
- Locklear erased on early 1-0 Towson lead when he deposited an 0-1 pitch over the left centerfield fence in the bottom of the first. Hibbits followed with a double and came around to score on a Carpenter single to right
- Towson drew nine walks in the contest
NOTABLE
- Locklear is on a tear. He's homered in both games of the series and has left the yard nine times in 2021. He's hitting .415 in his last 10 games, and 11 of his 17 hits have been for extra bases
- VCU recorded 14 hits in the game
