RAMS FALL TO DUKE IN THREE

The Short Story: Freshman opposite hitter Lauren King led the Rams with 10 kills, but it was not enough to hold off the high-powered Duke attack at the Siegel Center on Tuesday afternoon.
 
FIRST SERVE  
  • Senior opposite hitter Paula Neciporuka provided nine kills of her own while putting up 12 digs for the Rams
  • VCU sophomore outside hitter Qairo Bentley turned up all over the court providing four kills, eight digs, and two blocks
  • Freshman middle blocker Kylie Loftis also recorded four kills to pair with three blocks for the Rams
  • Duke's Mackenzie Cole led all participants with 25 digs
THE DIFFERENCE 
  • After a tightly contested first set, the Blue Devils exploded in the second by hitting .438. The set was highlighted by an 8-0 run in which Duke's Ade Owokoniran recorded three kills and a block
  • Despite battling back in the third by hitting .206, their best percentage of the match, the Rams fell by a score of 25-23
NOTABLE
  • The loss snaps VCU's five-match win streak to start the season
  • King has recorded double-digit kills in five of the Rams six games this season
