Shivani Manjanna claimed singles victories, but VCU Women's Tennis fell to Virginia Tech 5-2 Saturday afternoon at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center in Blacksburg.
OPENING SERVE
- Diaz-Delgado and Graduate Noumea Witmus improved to 3-1 in doubles competition this season with a 7-5 victory in the No. 2 position.
- Manjanna earned a straight-set victory 7-5, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles position. The Junior improved to 2-0 on the season with the win.
- Competing in the No. 1 singles position, Diaz-Delgado defeated Virginia Tech senior Nika Kozar in straight sets 6-4, 6-0.
- Freshman Alessia Ciuca battled hard in a back-and-forth match in the No. 3 position. After roaring back to force a third set, Ciuca was ultimately defeated 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.
- Freshman Gabriela Davidescu came just short of forcing a third set in the No. 4 position suffering a 7-5, 7-6 defeat.
