The Short Story: Rhode Island got out to an early lead and shot a blistering 68.6 percent from the floor as VCU was unable to overcome an early deficit.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • URI started the game on a 12-2 run but VCU answered with a 14-2 run to tie the game at 18-18 with 28 seconds left in the first quarter. Rhode Island got a basket with 5 seconds left from Tahane to lead 20-18 heading into the second
  • URI went on a 10-2 run to start the second quarter to lead 30-20 and VCU would get no closer than seven points at 46-39 for the rest of the quarter
  • Rhode Island had a blistering first half, shooting 71 percent from the floor and 80 percent from 3-point range. VCU shot 52 percent from the floor and 58 percent from 3-point Range
  • URI lead 48-39 at the half and tied the most points in a half this season by a VCU opponent
  • VCU trailed by double digits during the final 17:25 of the contest
UP NEXT:
The Atlantic 10 Championship is set to take place at the Siegel Center from March 10-14. VCU will learn its seed, opponent and game time at a later date once announced by the A-10.
