The Short Story: VCU led UMBC 8-3 at halftime but struggled offensively in the second half as UMBC completed the comeback victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Rams came out of the gates quickly, scoring four of the first five goals and led 4-1 on George's goal with 19:53 remaining in the first half
  • After a UMBC goal cut the Rams' lead to 4-2, McDonnell scored the first of four answered goals to push the lead to 8-2 with 6:21 left before halftime
  • The Black and Gold led 8-3 at the half as UMBC was the only team to score before the break
  • UMBC scored six of the first seven goals of the second half to tied the game at 9-9 with 15:28 remaining
  • The two teams went back-and-forth with Juliana George tying the game at 11-11 with 49 seconds remaining
  • UMBC won the ensuing draw control and Halczuk scored the game-winner with 10 seconds left
