The Short Story: VCU and Furman went back-and-forth throughout the contest but the Rams could get no closer than a two-goal deficit during the second half of the loss.

  • Kelsey McDonnell scored a hat trick to lead VCU offensively
  • Lauren Marosi scored twice, on her only two shot attempts of the game, and added an assist

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first half was a constant back-and-forth with six ties and two lead changes
  • With the game tied 3-3 with 20:29 remaining in the first half, the Rams scored three of the next four goals with Marosi's goal putting VCU up 6-4 with 12:53 left before halftime
  • The two-goal lead would be the largest of the game for the Rams and Furman outscored VCU 5-1 to close out the half and lead 9-7 at the break
  • The teams traded goals for the entire second half as VCU was unable to close the deficit
