The Short Story: The Rams dominated the sprint competitions and boasted four competitors with times under 60 seconds in the 400m while seniors Courtney Higgins and Makayla McGowan led the way in field events on Saturday afternoon.
 
SPRINTS/HURDLES: 
 

• Sophomore Lauryn Freeman recorded a personal best time of 8.69 in the 60m Hurdles which was good enough for a second-place finish
• Freshman Lauryn Taylor took home a second place finish with a personal best time of 7.59 in the 60m
• Rorie Spencer took third place in the 60m 
• In the 200m Taylor took home another second place finish as a result of a personal best 24.91 time. Spencer and Freeman followed with third and fourth place finishes respectively. 
• Junior Jessica Tucker and sophomore Yasmine Silmon also recorded personal best times in the 200m
• In the 400m freshman Simone Pierre claimed third-place with a time of 58.54
• Freshmen Nia McMillan raced to fourth-place in the 400m with a time of 59.44 while Karah Moore clocked in at fifth with a time of 59.76. Silmon set a personal best time of 59.90 in a fourth-place effort

 
 
JUMPS: 
 

• In the Long Jump senior Courtney Higgins leaped to a mark of 5.49m
• Sophomore Raquel Hawkins put up her best performance of the season with an 11.56m mark in the Triple Jump
• Alacia Myles continued to turn heads as the freshman soared to a 1.60m mark in the High Jump; a mark that equaled her season-high
• Sophomore Dasia Mayo and Higgins finished third and fourth respectively in the High Jump

 
 
THROWS
 

• Makayla McGowan launched herself into second place with a season best toss of 17.50m in the Weight Throw
• In the Shot Put McGowan took third-place while sophomore Jocelyn Midkiff and freshman Eryn Byrd each set personal records 

UP NEXT: The Rams will travel to Fairfax Va. to take on George Mason on Feb. 27-28
