The Short Story: VCU Men's Tennis earned a pair of victories over Longwood Sunday at the Thalhimer Tennis Center, winning 7-0 in both matches of a doubleheader.
 
MATCH ONE
 
OPENING SERVE

• The doubles pairing of sophomore Lleyton Cronje and Freshman Mario Duron earned the first match victory of the 2020-21 season. The duo secured a 6-1 win over Longwood's senior duo of Marc Casasnovas and Rosen Naydenov in the No. 3 position .
• Junior Charles Bertimon and Senior Quentin Coulaud clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory in the No. 1 position
• Senior Timo Zgraggen tallied the first singles win of the season with a straight-set victory, 6-1, 6-1 over Naydenov in the No. 5 position
• Coulaud tallied his first singles victory in a Rams' uniform. The transfer earned a 6-0, 6-1 win in the No. 3 position
• Senior Inigio Torre Martin clinched the match victory for the Rams with a 6-1, 6-0 straight-set victory in the No. 4 position
• VCU also earned singles-match wins in the No. 1, 2, and 6 positions from Cronje, Bertimon and junior Rayane Stable, respectively

• Zgraggen and sophomore David Cierny clinched the doubles point for VCU with a 6-2 win in the No. 3 position
• In singles play, Coulaud eased to a straight-set victory in the No. 2 position, 6-0, 6-1
• Cierny notched his first singles win of the season with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 straight set victory in the No. 5 position
• Bertimon clinched the match victory with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lancers' sophomore Ignacio Sandoval
• The Rams also earned victories in the No. 3, 6 and 4 position from Zgraggen, Duron and Stable, respectively
