HOW IT HAPPENED
- VCU put pressure on the East Carolina defense throughout. In the eighth minute, redshirt junior Samantha Jerabek sent a cross from the right side into the middle of the East Carolina box. The Buccaneers back line misplayed the ball and tallied an own goal giving the Rams an early 1-0 advantage
- In the 20th minute, Kershner sliced through the East Carolina defense and was taken down in the box. The redshirt junior was awarded and converted on a penalty kick to extend the VCU lead
- With the Rams leading 2-1 in the 76th minute, Bagley settled a Buccaneers clear attempt, sidestepped an East Carolina defender and fired a shot into the back left corner of the goal
