HOW IT HAPPENED
- VCU scored the first four points of the game with a Griffith-Wallace floater in the lane, and a driving lay-up form Te-Biasu.
- Samantha Robinson started 3-for-3 from the floor, finishing a driving lay-up from the baseline to put VCU ahead 11-9.
- Taya Robinson scored all 11 VCU points in the second quarter, including the first six points of the period. After BC took its first lead with 1:44 left in the half, Griffith-Wallace drove and kicked a pass to Robinson, who drained a three to put VCU back up 24-23.
- After trailing 25-24 at halftime, the Rams outscored the Eagles 22-10 in the third quarter.
- Taya Robinson opened the third with a pull-up jumper to reclaim the lead for VCU, but BC responded with a lay-up to go up 27-26, their last lead of the game.
- Griffith-Wallace knocked down a three off an assist from Taya Robinson to give VCU a 29-27 advantage. After Te-Biasu stole a BC pass on the ensuing possession, redshirt senior guard Madison Hattix-Covington hit a turnaround jumper to push the lead to 31-27.
- Moments later, Taya Robinson intercepted an Eagles pass, then threw the ball ahead to a sprinting Hattix-Covington under the basket, who pulled the ball out and dished to redshirt freshman Grace Hudson for a wide-open three.
- The Rams continued to capitalize off BC turnovers as Samantha Robinson finished a reverse lay-up with a flourish after a Griffith-Wallace steal.
- VCU scored the final five points of the third quarter to claim a 46-35 lead.
- Samantha Robinson opened the fourth quarter by making a driving lay-up on one end, and stealing a pass on the other. The Rams led by as many as 17 points early in the fourth.
- BC went on a 23-7 run across 5:20 of the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 62-60 with 37 seconds on the clock, led by Taylor Soule, who scored a game-high 20 points.
