THE SHORT STORY: VCU and Saint Joseph's were tied 0-0 at halftime before the Hawks' scored an early third quarter goal to edge the Rams in the A-10 Championship.

QUICK FACTS:
  • Sasha Elliott made six saves in the game for the Rams. She was also named to the All-Atlantic 10 Championship Team
  • Svea Sturm, Litiana Field and Janne Wetzel were also named to the All-Atlantic 10 Championship team
  • Saint Joseph's outshot VCU 13-2 overall and 7-2 in shots on goal
  • Lonica McKinney and Morgan Hanley each had a shot on goal for VCU
  • Saint Joseph's Anna Miller scored the Hawks' lone goal
  • It marked the third time in four seasons VCU has played in the Atlantic 10 Championship game, all against Saint Joseph's
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Elliott made two big first quarter saves, one in the fifth minute and one in the 10th minute to keep the game 0-0
  • Lonica McKinney's shot attempt in the 22nd minute forced a save from Robin Bleekemolen as she was able to redirect a pass on frame
  • Elliott was called upon to make two more saves and the game remained 0-0 at halftime
  • Saint Joseph's broke the deadlock in the 33rd minute as Miller was able to score from point blank range following an Elliott save
  • Hanley had VCU's final effort in the 55th minute as she redirected a cross from Camila Rosenbrock that was saved
