- The Tar Heels closed the quarter on a 10-2 run to lead 14-9 at the end of the first quarter
- The Rams and UNC played a back-and-forth second quarter and UNC led 34-29 at the half
- Early in the third quarter, Taya Robinson went on a personal 9-2 run to give VCU a 39-38 lead with 5:57 remaining. Robinson hit two 3-pointers during the run
- After taking a 50-45 lead into the fourth quarter, the Tar Heels then used their fourth quarter 9-2 run to take the win
