The Short Story: VCU's defense, led by Madison Hattix-Covington's career-high seven steals, forced 20 turnovers as the Rams cruised to the win.

OPENING TIP: 
  • Chloe Bloom tied her career-high with 14 points and added six rebounds and two assists
  • Hattix-Covington scored 12 points, adding seven rebounds and three assists in addition to her seven steals
  • Taya Robinson scored 13 points and added nine rebounds while Sara Te-Biasu had 10 points
  • Janika Griffith-Wallace added five points and five rebounds
  • Dasia Townes went 3-for-3 from the floor, scoring a career-high seven points and grabbing a career-high four rebounds

HOW IT HAPPENED: 
  • VCU led 10-8 late in the first quarter before a Townes jumper sparked a 7-0 run for the Rams and gave them a 17-8 lead. VCU led 17-10 after the first quarter
  • The Rams extended their lead in second quarter to 15 at halftime, leading 35-20, after holding the Monarchs to 36.4 percent shooting. The Rams shot 50 percent from the floor in the quarter to take the lead into half
  • VCU went on a 14-0 run that spanned both the second and third quarter and was capped off by a Te-Biasu layup. The run gave the Rams a 43-20 lead with 7:27 left in the quarter
  • ODU never got closer than a 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter as VCU cruised to the win
