- The Eagles and Rams played a back-and-forth second quarter as VCU maintained its 10-point lead at 30-20 at the half
- VCU went on a 12-4 run early in the third quarter to push its lead to 42-25 after a pair of Griffith-Wallace free throws
- The Rams pushed their lead to as many as 30 points and led 64-34 with 2:56 remaining in the fourth quarter
