The Short Story: VCU Women's Tennis was defeated by Furman 7-0 in its home opener on Saturday afternoon at Thalhimer Tennis Center.

OPENING SERVE

• No. 116 Paola Diaz-Delgado battled hard in a three-set match against No. 15 Katarin Kozarov. After dropping the first, the senior stormed back with a 6-0 win in set two. However, she was ultimately unable to prevail in the match suffering a 6-4 defeat in set three.
• Sophomore Luminita Tutunaru showed resilience in the No. 3 position, the sophomore fought hard in a back-and-forth match before suffering defeat 6-4, 7-5.
• Diaz-Delgado and Graduate Noumea Witmus failed to notch a doubles victory for the first time this season. The duo was defeated 6-2 by Furman's pairing of Junior Madision Dillon and Senior Maryann Rompf.
