VCU WOMEN’S TENNIS TRAVELS TO NO. 14 VIRGINIA SEEKING TO PRESERVE PERFECT RECORD

First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Snyder Tennis Center

RICHMOND, Va. – VCU Women's Tennis will travel to Charlottesville to take on No. 14 Virginia at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Snyder Tennis Center. The match will not be open to the public.
 
The Rams are looking to stay undefeated after topping Elon, 5-2, in their season-opening match on Saturday. The victory included a series of firsts for VCU. Vivian Segnini notched her first win as head coach of the program.  
 
Freshman Alessia Ciuca recorded her first collegiate win. Ciuca and sophomore-doubles partner Gabriela Davidescu downed their Elon counterparts, 6-1, in the No. 1 position.
 
Four Rams will look to preserve their perfect record in singles matches. Senior Paola Diaz-Delgado, Senior Noumea Witmus, Junior Shivani Manjanna and Davidescu all sit a 1-0 following season-opening wins.
 
VCU will face a Cavaliers squad that features five players ranked in the top 105 of the ITA preseason rankings. 
 
Virginia comes into the match at 1-1 following a 4-2 loss to No. 13 Ohio State on Sunday.
 
The match will be broadcast on live on virginiasports.com.
