The Short Story:Â In their second overtime game in three days, the Rams clung to a 69-67 lead but forced St. Bonaventure into two empty possessions in the last 25 seconds, a turnover and a missed 3-pointer at the buzzer, to hold on for the win.
QUICK FACTS
- Sydnei Archie recorded her second double-double of the season with a team-high 17 points and 10 rebounds. She also tied career-highs with four steals and two blocks
- Tera Reed scored 15 points and added seven rebounds
- Madison Hattix-Covington nearly recorded a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds
- The Rams went 22-of-32 at the free throw line while the Bonnies were 9-of-16

HOW IT HAPPENED
- VCU jumped out to a 7-2 lead early in the first quarter that started with a layup by Archie and a 3-pointer from Janika Griffith-Wallace
- The Rams eventually led 14-6 with 1:41 left in the first quarter after another Archie layup but the Bonnies closed the quarter on a 6-2 run with two 2-pointers from Olivia Brown to trim VCU's lead to 16-12
- St. Bonaventure took a 21-20 lead early in the second quarter after a Tori Harris 3-pointer but Te-Biasu hit a jumper and a 3-pointer on consecutive possessions to start an 8-0 run and give VCU a 28-21 lead with 1:49 left before halftime
- The Bonnies scored four of the final five points of the half and VCU lead 29-25 at the break
- VCU extended it's lead to 35-25 with 8:26 left in the third quarter before the Bonnies went on a 16-4 run to retake the lead at 41-39 and led VCU 43-41 heading into the fourth
- The fourth quarter had five ties and five lead changes in a back-and-forth battle that ended with Tera Reed forcing overtime on a layup with 24 seconds remaining and the game tied at 59-59
- The Rams scored the first two baskets of the overtime period with Reed and Hattix-Covington both converting layups to give VCU the lead for good
- Despite St. Bonaventure getting within two points on three different occasions during the overtime period, VCU's defense held up and the Rams never trailed, including forcing a missed 3-pointer from Harris at the buzzer
