The Short Story: The Rams closed out the Virginia Challenge and CNU Captains Classic on Saturday, setting pace for the conference championships taking place in two weeks.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Virginia Challenge
- The women's 4x400 meter relay team grabbed a third place finish after recording a time of 3:40.15.
- In the 400 meter hurdles, Kara Lyles placed 10th and recorded a 59.92 second finish.
- LeClare Beres earned a 14.51 time in the 100 meter hurdles for 25th place, while senior DeNisha Smith came in two spots later with her 14.56.
- Setting a new best time in the 200 meter was Alexis Willis, who took 28th.
- In the field, Amiaya Carey cleared a height of 1.61m in high jump, good enough for seventh.
- Makayla McGowan also placed in the top-10 of her event by finishing sixth in the shot put. The sophomore's mark was 14.73m.
CNU Captains Classic
- Asiah Robinson took sixth in the 800 meter run, which took a 2:23.50 time.
- Junior Denise O'Rourke struck gold in discus with a 45.89m mark.
