The short story: The middle of the lineup made quick work of in-state rival James Madison, using three straight-set singles victories to power VCU women's tennis to a 4-0 road win.
OPENING SERVE
- Although they dropped the first match, the Rams clinched the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
- Freshman Paola Exposito Diaz Delgado and sophomore Noumea Witmus notched their ninth win of the year, defeating Elizabeth Norman and Abby Amos 6-3 at No. 1. Junior Anna Rasmussen and freshman Marina Alcaide Bakkari, playing together for the first time, clinched the point with a 6-4 win over Jona Roka and Dylan Owens at No. 3.
- A pair of freshmen pushed the VCU lead to 3-0. Sofia Sualehe dominated Diane Flament at No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-1. Alcaide Bakkari then defeated Roka at No. 3 singles 6-1, 6-4.
- Witmus wrapped up the VCU victory with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Emma Petersen.
