The short story: In VCU's first match against an Atlantic 10 opponent this season, the Rams picked up a dominating 6-0 victory over George Washington.
OPENING SERVE
- Paired together for just the second time this season, junior Anna Rasmussen and sophomore Kanako Yano combined for a 6-3 victory at No. 1 doubles over Melis Bayraktaroglu and Victoria Kogan.
- Freshman Paola Exposito Diaz Delgado and sophomore Noumea Witmus clinched the doubles point for the Rams with a 6-2 win over Julia Herlogsson and Sara Grubac at No. 2 doubles.
- Diaz Delgado and Rasmussen each picked up their team-leading 14th singles victories of the season. Diaz Delgado made quick work of Grubac at No. 2 singles, winning 6-4, 6-1. Rasmussen extended the Rams lead to 5-0 at No. 1 singles, beating Bayrataroglu 7-5, 7-5.
- Yano won her fourth straight singles match at the No. 5 position, beating Diana Kussainova 6-1, 6-4.
- Freshman Marina Alcaide Bakkari clinched the match for VCU with a 6-1, 7-6 win over Herlogsson at No. 3 singles. Fellow freshman Sofia Sualehe closed out the day with a 6-2, 7-6 win over Kamilla Beisenova at No. 6 singles.
