The short story: The Rams dominated the Bears in a midweek, non-conference tennis match, winning at all nine singles and doubles positions without dropping a set.
OPENING SERVE
- The freshman duo of Marina Alcaide Bakkari and Sofia Sualehe combined at No. 3 doubles to win 6-1 over Peggy Rooke and Dana Santiago. Freshman Paola Exposito Diaz Delgado and sophomore Noumea Witmus then clinched the doubles point with a 6-0 victory over Kayla Price and Alexus Gill.
- Playing out the No. 1 match, freshman Melissa Ifidzhen and junior Anna Rasmussen defeated Danielle Thompson and Asmara Faluke 6-2. It was their team-leading ninth doubles win of the year.
- Diaz Delgado made quick work of Price at No. 2 singles, winning in straight sets without dropping a game.
- Witmus extended the VCU lead to 3-0 with a straight-set victory at No. 5 singles over Rooke by a score of 6-0, 6-1.
- Ifidzhen clinched the win for the Rams by topping Gill 6-1, 6-2.
- Across 10 sets in the singles matches from position 2 through 5, VCU lost a total of just nine games.
